2006-2007 AriZoni Awards
Recipients ( Complete ariZoni Recipient List )

PRESS RELEASE
Fountain Hills Community Theater
September 25, 2007

The ariZoni Theatre Awards of Excellence ceremony was held on Monday, September 24th at the Scottsdale Center of the Arts. The event honors over 40 Arizona theater companies, both professional and non-professional, bestowing awards for acting, directing, set, lighting and sound design, musical direction, choreography, costuming, make-up and hair and original works. Winners are chosen through an adjudication process, whereby five judges attend each production and assign a score to each aspect of the show. These ballots are then tabulated by an independent accounting firm, the winners’ names are sealed in an envelope, and then opened and announced at the event. This year the evening was divided into two ceremonies – one for the Youth Theaters and another for the Adult venues.

Fountain Hills Community Theater Youth Theater received 31 nominations and garnered 6 awards. Recipients were Lindsey Garland and Clinton Stiles-Schmidt for Best Supporting actors in a children’s musical for their roles in Charlotte’s Web; Zachary Percevecz for Best Supporting Actor in a play – Rough Night at the North Pole; Cole Cuomo for Best Actor in a Major Role and Duncan Shuckerow for Best Supporting Actor in a musical - My Emperor’s New Clothes; and Best Overall Non-Musical Production was Rough Night at the North Pole.

Fountain Hills Community Theater Mainstage was nominated 47 times and received 8 awards. Winners were: Best Actor in a Major Role in a Play, Peter J. Hill for Man of La Mancha; Best supporting Actor in a Play, Bruce Halperin for Man of La Mancha; Best Supporting Actress in a Musical, Amy Powers for her role as Eulalie in The Music Man; Best Set and Lighting Design, Peter J. Hill for Man of La Mancha; Best Director, Peter J. Hill for The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged (which also garnished Best Overall Non-Musical Production); Best Sound Design, Jesse Berger for Fiddler on the Roof.

Fountain Hills Community Theater players were invited to perform “Ya Got Trouble” from last season’s The Music Man, as part of the evening entertainment. FHCT is honored and grateful to the many performers, designers, technical and backstage crews and volunteers who make it all happen – as well as their patrons and the ariZoni organization, whose support and encouragement are so vital to the performing arts in Arizona.
